National Wetlands Indaba 2008The organisers of the National Wetlands Indaba 2008 are delighted to invite you to Skukuza, Kruger National Park for this year’s gathering. The theme is Healthy wetlands, healthy people, adopted from the theme for World Wetlands Day 2008. NWI 2008 will focus on both the benefits that humans derive from wetlands, such as the provision of food, clean water, and pharmaceuticals, as well as the negative impacts of wetland mismanagement such as the impairment of human health and even the loss of human life because of water-related diseases, floods and water.
More »World Wetlands Day 2008As always, the year kicked off with World Wetlands Day on February 2nd. With interest in the day growing annually, this year’s celebrations proved to be the most ambitious held in South Africa to date. Over the past month dozens of events were held by government departments, municipalities, schools, and civil society groups around the country, and a few are still planned for later in the year.
